§ 2. Definitions.

  • Be it further ordained, etc., that for the purpose of this ordinance the following terms and words as used herein are hereby defined as follows:

    (a)

    "Subdivision" means the division of a lot, tract or parcel of land into two or more lots, plots, parcels or building sites, for the purpose of sale or of building development, either immediate or future. It also includes the resubdivision or rearrangement of one or more lots, plots, parcels or building sites.

    (b)

    "Major street" means a street constructed of a higher standard than adjacent residential streets, and offering continuous movement to all sections of the city.

    (c)

    "Street," "avenue," "road," or any other similar designation all mean the same for the general purpose of this ordinance.

    (d)

    "Alley," "service way," or any other similar designation all mean the same for the general purpose of this ordinance.

    (e)

    "Easement," "servitude," or any other similar designation all mean the same for the general purpose of this ordinance.

    (f)

    "Lot," "tract," "plot," or any area with similar designation all mean the same for the general purpose of this ordinance.

    (g)

    "City engineer" shall mean the official engineer of the City of Port Allen, Louisiana, designated by the mayor and city council of the City of Port Allen, Louisiana.

    (h)

    "Planning commission" means the official planning agency appointed by the mayor of Port Allen, in accordance with the provisions of R.S. 33:101 et seq. (Physical Development of Parishes and Municipalities, Subpart A, Planning Commissions).

    (i)

    "City" and "mayor and city council" shall both mean the mayor and city council of the City of Port Allen, Parish of West Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana, the governing authority of said city.

    (j)

    "Engineer" shall mean that engineer or surveyor retained by the owner or subdivider.
